One of the most essential steps to building a successful small business is having the right team working along side you! Here at Capri Bookkeeping Solutions, our team is poised for success and it's for good reason. I believe in hiring a staff that shares my values both personally and professionally. I also know that setting up my team for success is in my business's best interest and my clients. Today I'm sharing some of my tips for building a winning team within your small business.
Hire the Right Team
The first step is to identify and understand the culture you are building within your company. What are your priorities as a business owner? What are the qualities that resonate with you and your business? Once you've identified the company culture, you can choose qualified candidates that fit perfectly within your values.
Empower and Motivate
After onboarding your new team members and acclimating them to your company process, it's important to check-in, provide feedback and encourage them. Offering advice as well as motivating your team is part of being a good leader and a way to create an environment for success.
Invest in Your Team
To successfully grow your business, you need to invest in your team. It's a win-win for both you and your staff. As you provide new outlets, projects and responsibilities to team members, they can flourish within their careers and your business thrives.

We're excited to welcome Goldstein & Mignogna Family Law Attorneys to Capri Bookkeeping Solutions! Goldstein & Mignogna. P.A. is a law firm specializing in Family Law and Assisted Reproductive Technology Law. The firm is located in Marlton, New Jersey and represents clients throughout the state of New Jersey. We recently sat down with Partner Melissa Mignogna to learn more about her practice, mission and insights on being a small business owner today.
Q. Why is family law and reproductive rights important to you?
A. These areas of law are very important to us because they are areas of law that have a direct impact on individuals and their families. We enjoy working with people directly and helping them through challenging times. In both areas, it is extremely rewarding for us to see our clients' transformation while working through a challenging divorce or becoming parents for the first time.
Q. What types of clients do you serve?
A. Our clients vary from stay-at-home parent(s) to business owners. We serve clients throughout New Jersey and focus our practices on clients in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic, and Cumberland counties.
Q. How have you adapted your business during Covid-19?
Our practice opened on April 1, 2020, so it was a challenging time as a new business owner in the middle of a pandemic. I am happy to say that despite those challenges, we stayed connected and available to our clients. We are fully accessible to our clients, other attorneys and the court via our cell phones, office phones, or via video conferences. We have conducted meetings via video conferences and continue to represent our clients in Court also via video conferencing. We have stayed up-to-date on any and all announcements and changes in Court rules as the Courts continues to operate completely virtual.
Q. What's your biggest challenge as a small business owner?
A. For me, the biggest challenge is finding the right balance. I now have three full-time jobs- lawyer, business owner and mother (to 2-year-old Violet). I am finding the new challenges rewarding and motivating. I very much believe in showing Violet that women do not have to choose between a family and a career.
Q. Why did you decide to seek bookkeeping services for your practice?
A. Amy and I figured out very early on in our new business venture that to be successful, we will have to rely on people who can do things for us better then we can and it has made a huge difference. It was very hard the first several months before we had bookkeeping services to stay on top of the company's finances while practicing law and managing our clients. Bookkeeping was one of the first things that we outsourced and it made a tremendous difference for us!
Q. Tell us about your experience working with Capri so far?
A. We wanted easy and reliable and Capri has continued to fit those requirements for us (and more). Our bookkeepers are in constant communication with us, have made us feel very comfortable and have taught us so much in a very short amount of time. We feel fortunate to have Capri helping us with our bookkeeping and payroll needs.
