There are many benefits to outsourcing your bookkeeping as a small business owner. In this previous post, we outlined just a few ways that working with a bookkeeper can help you and your business. You may be wondering, however, what the benefits of working with a traditional bookkeeper versus a virtual bookkeeper are.
Virtual bookkeeping services are gaining popularity and may be right for some businesses, but there are certain disadvantages you may not have considered. One of the most significant drawbacks of working with a virtual service is missing out on one-on-one consultative support.
Today we’re going to break down some of the top benefits of working with a traditional local bookkeeper versus going virtual.
#1 We’re close by and available to you
When you work with a traditional bookkeeper like us, we’re available for calls, emails, and in-person meetings. Have an immediate issue that needs attention? We’ll work with you and your schedule.
#2 We work with your accountant
Communication is essential! We learn your business and your books inside and out and work with your accountant to keep your finances and your business running seamlessly.
#3 Consultative support
We listen to our clients and provide strategies that will serve their businesses best. Our bookkeeping teams also work together to solve problems and take a proactive approach to manage your books.
#4 Customized services
Our team has years of experience in building personalized bookkeeping plans and payroll services. We do not subscribe to the “one-size-fits-all” service option since we know that every business is unique.

5.6 million businesses currently use QuickBooks to manage their accounting, get invoices paid, accept payments and much more. We’re not surprised at that number, considering that QuickBooks features are designed to improve the way you run your business.
If you’re a new small business owner and made the decision to invest in QuickBooks software, we applaud you! QuickBooks has the added benefit of growing with you as your business grows– they offer an ecosystem of additional apps and integrations to use with it. You may, however, question whether you’re managing the software correctly and using all of the features to the maximum benefit. That’s where a QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor comes in!
A Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor is someone familiar with the QuickBooks product line who has joined the QuickBooks ProAdvisor program and passed a certification exam. With this certified training, a ProAdvisor can set up his new QuickBooks accounting files correctly and manage accountants effectively so you can focus on your business– and save time in the process.
Our team at Capri Bookkeeping Solutions is certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors who offer insightful consultative support for all versions of QuickBooks Desktop and Online. (Check our our reviews here). Each year the Internal Revenue Service issues a new Form W-4. The new form issued this year reduces the form’s complexity and increases the transparency and accuracy of employee tax withholdings. While it uses the same underlying information as the old design, it replaces complicated worksheets with more straightforward questions that make accurate withholding easier for employees.
Allowances are no longer used for the redesigned Form W-4. In the past, the value of a withholding allowance was tied to the amount of the personal exemption. Due to changes in the law, currently, you cannot claim personal exemptions or dependency exemptions.
2020 Form W-4’s are now available and considering these changes we recommend that employers share the form with their employers. While employees are not required to provide a new Form W-4 each year, it is in their best interest to review the form as withholdings may change.
You can download the new 2020 W-4 tax form here and for more help understanding the new form watch this video provided by IRS.gov.
